2.Background and objectives
The National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHNS), conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare every November among approximately 15,000 people to assess physical status, nutrient and food group intake, and lifestyle habits, is tabulated and analysed.
The results of the NHNS are used to formulate national nutrition policies and measures to combat non-communicable diseases, and to provide evidence for revising the Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese.
The results of previous surveys are available on the Institute's website.
In addition, we are conducing research to improve the accuracy of survey methods for conducting the NHNS over time, and conducting surveys and research on factors related to the diet and eating habits of the Japanese people.
